Thunder Bay's Expert Heating, Cooling & HVAC Specialists

Selecting the right local contractor for your HVAC in Thunder Bay means the difference between persistent temperature fluctuations and seamless, year-round comfort. Total Climate provides full-spectrum heating and cooling solutions engineered specifically to handle Northwestern Ontario’s demanding climate extremes. We avoid quick-fix patches and generic equipment packages; instead, we evaluate your home’s building envelope, insulation levels, square footage, and duct layout to deliver equipment that runs efficiently and reliably for years to come.

From heritage residential homes across Port Arthur and Fort William to modern builds and rural workshops throughout the district, our comprehensive HVAC Thunder Bay services encompass every aspect of your mechanical system:

• High-Efficiency Furnaces: Modern natural gas furnace installations, preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and high-efficiency system retrofits.
• Central Air & Ductless Mini-Splits: Efficient whole-home central air conditioning and versatile ductless cooling units tailored for homes without ductwork.
• Cold-Climate Heat Pumps: Advanced dual-fuel and all-electric heat pump systems capable of extracting heat even during frigid Northern Ontario winters.
• Custom Sheet Metal & Duct Fabrication: In-house and on-site ductwork fabrication that eliminates hot and cold spots, reduces static air drag, and balances airflow.
• Garage & Shop Heating: Heavy-duty infrared radiant tube heaters and suspended gas unit heaters built for garages, workshops, and commercial bays.
• Certified Gas Fitting: Safe, TSSA-compliant gas line installations for ranges, outdoor barbecues, patio heaters, pool heaters, and gas fireplaces.
• Indoor Air Quality & Ventilation: Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs) and exhaust systems that exchange stale indoor air for fresh, filtered outdoor air without losing heat.

Every system we install or repair strictly adheres to current Ontario building and safety codes. When you choose Total Climate, you gain the peace of mind that comes with working directly with experienced, dedicated tradespeople who prioritize your family's comfort and safety above all else.

When the winter freeze sets in across Northwestern Ontario, a failing furnace is not just a nuisance—it is an urgent household emergency. A sudden loss of heat exposes your family to dangerous cold and puts your plumbing at immediate risk of freezing and bursting. That is why Total Climate provides fast, prioritized furnace repair in Thunder Bay. When you contact us with an urgent no-heat situation, you connect directly with local professionals who understand the severity of winter breakdowns and respond promptly to restore your home's warmth.

Our heating diagnostic process is thorough, precise, and transparent. We never rely on guesswork or push unnecessary equipment replacements when a reliable repair is possible. We service and repair all major makes and models of gas furnaces, handling common heating issues including:

• Furnaces blowing cold or lukewarm air instead of steady heat
• Faulty electronic hot surface ignitors and intermittent pilot lights
• Dirty or degraded flame sensors causing burners to cycle off prematurely
• Failed blower motors, worn drive belts, and noisy fan bearings
• Clogged condensate drain lines and venting pressure switch failures
• Tripped high-limit safety switches and cracked heat exchangers
• Thermostat communication failures and irregular cycling patterns

As a locally owned and operated business, our furnace repair Thunder Bay service is built on integrity. We explain the exact mechanical failure in clear, accessible language, review all available repair options, and provide itemized pricing before performing any work. If your heating system is past its expected lifespan or repair costs outweigh the value of the equipment, we provide honest advice on energy-efficient replacement furnaces that reduce monthly gas bills and qualify for provincial home energy rebates.

While Thunder Bay is widely celebrated for its crisp northern winters, our summers frequently bring intense heat waves and heavy humidity off Lake Superior. When warm weather peaks, your home should be a refreshing haven. If your cooling system fails to keep pace or breaks down entirely, Total Climate delivers prompt, professional AC repair in Thunder Bay to restore cool indoor air quickly and efficiently.

Air conditioning units often experience mechanical stress during the hottest days of the summer when demand is continuous. Whether you operate a conventional central air conditioner or a multi-zone ductless mini-split system, our certified cooling technicians arrive equipped to resolve all primary cooling issues, including:

• Air conditioners running continuously without lowering indoor temperatures
• Frozen evaporator coils or frost accumulation along refrigerant lines
• Low refrigerant charge and hard-to-find refrigerant leaks
• Faulty contactors, blown fuses, and defective start/run capacitors
• Blocked condensate drain lines leading to indoor water leaks around the furnace
• Uncharacteristic buzzing, clicking, or metal-on-metal grinding sounds
• Short-cycling units that turn on and shut down every few minutes

We focus on enduring repairs that restore your equipment's factory efficiency rather than temporary patches. During every AC repair Thunder Bay appointment, our technicians inspect electrical contacts, test operating pressures, clear debris, and balance airflow. This meticulous attention to detail ensures your air conditioner operates at its full seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER), keeping your hydro consumption manageable throughout the summer months.

Investing in a new heating and cooling system is one of the most significant upgrades you can make to your home’s efficiency, comfort, and resale value. Total Climate specializes in complete furnace, air conditioner, and heat pump installations engineered to perform without compromise in Northern Ontario’s climate. We guide you through selecting modern equipment rated for optimal fuel efficiency (AFUE) and high-efficiency cooling (SEER2), helping you lower utility bills while enjoying quiet, consistent indoor temperatures.

A heating or cooling system is only as effective as the ductwork connected to it. Because our team includes licensed sheet metal journeymen, we custom-fabricate transitions, plenums, and supply trunks on-site. Standard pre-fabricated fittings frequently cause restrictive static air pressure, restricted airflow, and unnecessary noise. By custom-building our sheet metal ducting to the exact dimensions of your mechanical room, Total Climate guarantees balanced air delivery to every room in your home and extends the operating life of your blower motor.
